Palin losing luster

Sarah Palin utterly confused a crowd of around 5,000 last night when she appeared at an anti-abortion rally in Wisconsin and gave a speech that was primarily about health care, heavily seasoned with whatever random fleeting thoughts popped into her mind.

"It is so bogus that society is sending a message right now and has been for probably the last 40 years that a woman isn’t strong enough or smart enough to be able to pursue an education, a career and her rights and still let her baby live," she said, proving that the past four decades of the feminist movement have not yet made their mark on the frozen tundra.

"Yeah, it's true," said Society with a resigned look on his face. "I've tried that message, but it really hasn't worked out all that well for me over the past few decades. I mean, take a look would ya? First there was the vote. Then trousers. And abortion! At least Palin is helping me out a little with that one. The truth is, more broads... I mean chicks, uh... ladies... More ladies are in college than men, they're getting all the good jobs these days, and they even expect us guys to help out with the kids. I'm glad to hear that they're still listening to me in Alaska, but fuck Alaska, know what I mean?"

Discussing the Democratic health care plan, Palin noted that "if policy-makers don’t believe a child in the womb is valuable, then perhaps the same mind-set applies to other persons. What may they feel about an elderly person who doesn’t have a whole lot of productive years left?"

Those remarks in particular set off a minor panic among some women in the audience, who understood her to be implying that they would be forced to have abortions whether they were pregnant or not.

"I don't care if they're liberals or conservatives, politicians shouldn't be worried about my biological time clock," said Martha Pitts of Green Bay. "I used to love Sarah, but I think she's really starting to jump the shark. All that nonsense about the elderly... They're not the ones getting abortions, that's crazy talk. I think she's just trying to stir up interest in her book, that's what I think. Books. What's more mainstream liberal media than a book? I'm ready for somebody new, someone who's willing to shake things up, like that guy I never heard of who almost won in New York."
